Monument to Shota Rustaveli in KievPresident of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko and President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili unveiled the monument to a Georgian classical author of literature Shota Rustaveli on the 7th of June, 2007 in Kiev. Patrons of the art project – Dmitriy Andrievskiy and Bank of Georgia. The monument to the Georgian writer was erected on the crossroads of Rustaveli Str and Saksaganskogo Str. During a ceremony M. Saakashvili has noticed that the monument opening to Shota Rustaveli is a historical event. “Our friendship is not friendship between presidents of Ukraine and Georgia, our friendship is a friendship between the peoples”, President of Georgia said. The monument is opened in execution of agreements of Presidents of Ukraine and Georgia on cooperation deepening in culture and spirituality spheres.There was opened a monument to the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko in the capital of Georgia in March 2007.
